In Mali, an “artisan” is loosely defined as anyone that works with their hands; the bambara word for artisan — “bololabaarala” - is literally translated as “person who works with his/her hands”. The Centre Regional de la Promotion de l’Artisanat— Mopti Region (CRPA) has created this website in an effort to promote the products and activities of Malian artisans (particularly in the Mopti region) to a broader global market. Within this site, you can find more information about the unique region of Mopti, products offered here, descriptions of individual artisans as well as ongoing and planned projects of the CRPA. In an increasingly global world, the CRPA realizes the pressing need to compete not only in the local bazaar but also to expand into the world market. Feel free to browse around and contact us for more information about Mopti artisans, purchasing products or to learn more about some of our projects. |
